Dr. V M Abdul Gafoor

Designation: Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science)

Dr. V.M. Abdul Gafoor holds a BVSc & AH degree from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Thrissur, Kerala, and an MVSc from Madras Veterinary College, Tamil Nadu. Prior to joining as Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), he served as a Veterinary Surgeon under the Special Livestock Breeding Programme, Kerala, and as a Veterinary Surgeon in the Veterinary Dispensaries under the Kerala Animal Husbandry Department. He also worked as Assistant Forest Veterinary Officer at the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR), Kerala, under the Kerala Forest and wildlife Department, and as an Executive Member of the India Eco-Development Programme funded by the World Bank.

After joining KVK-Lakshadweep, he served as Head (I/C), KVK-Lakshadweep, and Head (I/C), ICAR-Regional Station Minicoy under ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He also served as Programme Coordinator, KVK-Lakshadweep under ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi.

He is currently working as Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), KVK-Lakshadweep, and Project Head of “Biological Control of Pestiferous Rodents (Rats) Using Barn Owls.”
