The 19th installment release of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was marked by a vibrant Kisan Samman Samaroh at the State Guest House, Agatti Island, and the KVK Office at Kavaratti Island on 24February 2025. Organized by KVK-Lakshadweep, ICAR-CMFRI the event celebrated the impact of the PM-KISAN scheme on the island’s farming community.

Honourable Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri. Kamlesh Paswan, graced the occasion as the chief guest, alongside the Deputy Collector from the UT Administration and KVK-Lakshadweep officials. Shri Kamlesh Paswan emphasised the government’s unwavering commitment to farmers’ welfare and highlighted the success of the PM-KISAN scheme.Dr. Abdul Gafoor P.M., In-charge Head of KVK, provided a comprehensive overview of KVK-Lakshadweep’s initiatives, including technology transfer, capacity building, and research tailored to the unique ecosystem of the islands.

The highlight of the day was the live streaming of the PM-KISAN 19th installment release by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, allowing Lakshadweep farmers to witness the nationwide event. The Samaroh reinforced the commitment to supporting farmers in Lakshadweep, encouraging them to leverage KVK’s resources for guidance and training. The event’s success reflects the strong collaborative effort to enhance agricultural development in the region.
