FPO (Farmer producer organization)

KVK Lakshadweep, with the support of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), successfully established a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in Kavaratti Island in 2021, comprising over 100 local farmers. This initiative aimed to enhance collective farming, value addition, and market access for agricultural produce. Building on this success, the process of forming a second FPO was initiated in Amini Island in 2024. These farmer-centric efforts are designed to empower island communities, strengthen cooperative farming systems, and improve income generation through organized, sustainable agricultural practices.
