During this reporting period, KVK initiated the popularization of IIHR varieties by distributing seed kits to farmers across six islands benefitting to 824 farmers. Considering the island conditions different methods were employed for promoting vegetable cultivation. The efforts of KVK on promoting a community nursery using IIHR varieties in Kiltan islands during 2021-22 is further scaling up as best practice across the other islands of Lakshadweep. About 50,000 vegetable seedlings were produced by five rural youth lead by their facilitators.
