The OFT on fish waste to poultry feed making and its efficiency in poultry was found to efficient and cost effective. The fish waste converted to poultry feed was observed to be better when compared to the treatments of commercial feed mixed withmasmeen and fish waste powder. The treatment of poultry fed with fish waste reduced the cost and gained better BC ratio of 1.78. Poultry growers inferred that conversion of fish waste to poultry feed is cost effective to improve growth rate, egg production and others. It could be inferred that the abundant fish waste can be converted to poultry feed and reduce the cost and dependency on commercial feed from the mainland. The feedback to research system based on results is that the fish waste based poultry feed have to be standardized for feeding indigenous and improved strains. The demonstrated dual purpose poultry strain Thallassery characterized with black feathers, grey legs and a red comb and wattle started laying eggs at 4.5 months and produced up to 160-170 eggs a year. The average weight of an egg was found to be 43 grams. Poultry growers have requested to provide the same strain in future.
