The intensity of invasive whitefly is very high in the island and has resulted in the drastic reduction of coconut production. KVK has been proactively working with ICAR-CPCRI and the Department of Agriculture on the management of whitefly infestation. During 2023, the KVK undertook 20 demonstrations of spraying with neem oil in farmer’s field. An advisory was prepared and provided to UT administration of Lakshadweep for further scaling up and it has been followed and implemented.
