Under the OFT, Chilly variety Arka Haritha yielded (14.98t/ha) and the incidence of leaf curl virus was very low when compared to the farmer’s variety. Farmers informed that this variety can be recommended as the incidence of whiteflies and leaf curl viral disease is low. Hence, the variety can be recommended to island situations both for land based and using soil less medium. During 2021 22, an assessment was undertaken to identify the best variety of tomato being a principle vegetable crop in the islands. Arkarakshak and Arkasamrat of ICAR IIHR, Bengaluru were assessed. Both the varieties have better germination and incidence of pest and disease were low. The yield of ArkaRakshak was ( 54.5 t ) and Arka Samrat (52.03 t ). Arkarakshak had better keeping quality. With the feedback of farmers it was understood that Arkarakshak is the preferred variety due to higher yield and good keeping quality. Similarly, the assessment of identifying the best substrate of mushroom was identified. The oystermushroom prepared from Banana Psuedostem was completely infected by bacteria. The yield from coconut leaves and coirpith was comparatively same but higher in coirpith. It was concluded that both coconut leaves and coirpith can be used as substrata for mushroom cultivation but the yield was average when compared to straw. Transportation of straw from mainland will incur high cost and hence, the feasible medium will be coconut leaves and coir pith. Under the FLD, wick irrigation was observed to be a promising technology for irrigation management which recorded with a yield increase of about 13.2%. Similarly, under the feed enrichment of goats with mineral mixture and probiotics indicated a body weight increase of about 21% in goats. FLD on deworming in goats had an increased body weight upto 30%.
